When envisioning this design with our client during their bespoke consultation, the brief was simple ‘minimal and modern’. However, when we pushed further, and asked our client what home meant to them, their response went deeper ‘somewhere cosy, where I feel safe and secure, free from the busyness of work life, where I can switch off and unwind.’ Minimal and modern rarely means clinical. To our client minimal and modern meant both clutter-free and high-tech whilst also maintaining peace and personality. Taking inspiration from traditional scandinavian design principles, we created a bespoke surround for our client’s state-of-the-art fireplace that adds warmth to this striking design feature. Lighting played a prominent part in the design of this space, and all lighting is completely adaptable and easily adjusted based on our clients wants and needs. Downlights in the kitchen space create a real stillness in the evening and create a harmony in the space. A breakfast bar made from luxurious marble gives a contemporary feel to the space whilst hardwood chevron flooring creates a timeless homeliness. This space is the perfect environment for a summer barbeque with friends or a cosy winter night-in by the fire. Homes require versatility and this stylish living area is one that achieves it all.
